Windows Explorer Context Menu Diff using Visual Studio

Updated on 5/26/2016

Here are some quick instructions on how to setup the "Send To" Windows Explorer context menu to invoke a diff using Visual Studio. After doing these steps, and selecting two files in Windows Explorer, the "Send To" context menu can be used to invoke a diff of the two files using Visual Studio.

Create a shortcut file to either of these paths:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 14.0\Common7\IDE\vsDiffMerge.exe"
or
“C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 14.0\Common7\IDE\devenv.exe” /diff

*Correct the path to your version of Visual Studio.

Create the shortcut in this folder:

%AppData%\Microsoft\Windows\SendTo
